Tragedy unites them in their struggle to find the right path in life, despite both psychological and physical obstacles. The film was awarded Best Director and Best Actress at Cannes Film Festival in 1958.

A Ship Bound for India by Ingmar Bergman was awarded with the Special Mention by the jury in Cannes Film Festival 1947. The film tells the story about a powerful, suggestive love triangle, between a hunchback sailor, his drunkard father the captain and a chorus girl.

It Rains on Our Love by Ingmar Bergman features the young couple Maggi and David meet by coincidence at a railway station, and fall in love.

One Summer of Happiness by director Arne Mattsson caused big controversy upon its original release, featuring one of the first nude scenes ever in film history. The film is one of Sweden's biggest export successes ever and is partly responsible for the world wide known conception "Swedish sin". It won the Golden Berlin Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1952.
